NO SMOKING POLICY

The National, Area and Regional Operating Guidelines Article 7, Item 7 "Conduct during games", states:

THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF CONDUCT AND GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES BY PLAYERS, COACHES, REFEREES, SPECTATORS AND ALL OTHER PARTICIPANTS. OFFENSIVE, INSULTING OR ABUSIVE LANGUAGE IS FORBIDDEN. THE USE OF ALCOHOL, TOBACCO PRODUCTS OR ILLEGAL DRUGS IN THE VICINITY OF THE PLAYING FIELD DURING PRACTICES OR GAMES IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN.

Here is the amendment we are adding to our Regional Guidelines:

IF DURING ANY GAME SOMEONE IS OBSERVED SMOKING, THE GAME WILL BE STOPPED, THE SMOKER WILL BE APPROACHED BY NO FEWER THAN TWO PEOPLE; BE IT TWO COACHES, TWO REFEREES OR A COACH AND A REFEREE. THAT PERSON WILL BE INFORMED THAT THE GAME WILL NOT RESUME UNTIL THEY ARE FINISHED SMOKING AND THAT IF THEY HAVE TO BE REMINDED A SECOND TIME THE GAME WILL BE CANCELLED.

Our goal is to provide the player with a safe and healthy environment to play soccer in. Yes the fields are terrible, but until we find a different place or the school boards votes to do something about the fields we have to start some where. This is why we are trying to enforce a no smoking policy. If you must smoke please do it in your car, either before or after the game or at halftime.
